Taking the leap to become a work from home freelance professional is a scary time. Will it be a dream or a nightmare?

Fortunately, that question has been answered by a new survey which asked 1500 freelancers what they thought about the freelance lifestyle and working for themselves.

And guess what? 72% of those surveyed said they have found their "dream job" working as a freelancer.

Not only that, but 60% said they feel happier now than ever before, and it's all thanks to firing their boss and going it alone.

Compare this to another survey done last year, which asked employees if they had found their dream job. Only 9% said they had.

Make no mistake about it...working for yourself is the new way to a happy life.

This new survey delved deeper into why people are so attracted to working for themselves.

According to 61% of those surveyed, it is the freedom to do what you want, when you want and with who you want.

Just like here at Freelance Supermarket. We get up when we want, get dressed when we want and watch what we want on the TV. No-one is telling us what to do.

42% went on to comment they liked not having to report to anyone, while 21% enjoyed making more cash while working for themselves.

It isn't all plain sailing though, with 34% of freelancers complaining they struggled to raise much needed capital to take their business to the next level.

Not only that, but 29% moaned they couldn't decide on a product or service, while 28% were frustrated by finding customers.

Long hours were also mentioned in the survey, with 20% saying they now worked more than when they were working for someone else.

Here at Freelance Supermarket we say "relax." Spend the morning in bed and then watch a bit of Jeremy Kyle, and then...and only then...do a bit of work while in your pyjamas.

If you are thinking of quitting your job and becoming a freelancer then you might be wondering if you are too old? No chance, and in fact, there are more and more freelancers over the age of 50 who are getting into the game.

There are even some "pensioners" who are deciding that retirement is boring and being a self employed freelance professional is the way forward.

It really doesn't matter how old you are - you can be 18 or 88...the freelance lifestyle is for you, and you get it right then it could quickly become your "dream job."
