60% of Workers Want to be “Flexi”

Here at Freelance Supermarket HQ we know all about flexibility. “Agile as a cat,” is how one person described us.

In a recent survey of 1200 UK business professionals one of the topics that came us was "flexibility," and surprisingly, 60% said they would like to be more flexible.

"Flexi," is the official word used in the survey, with workers saying they would like to choose their own hours between 6am and 6pm.

No doubt some would even like to choose the flexi freelance way of doing things that we do here at Freelance Supermarket. "Up at 12 and flexi all the way," is our motto.

Back to the survey and 40% of those asked said they would be happy with a salary of £25,000 a year. Not bad money if you ask us, although we know of many work from home freelancers who are making more than that. Some home workers bring down 6 figures a year.

45% of those surveyed said they would want to work for a company with less than 250 employees. That sounds like a lot to us.

Here at Freelance Supermarket we have a company of exactly 1 people. There are no employees and no water cooler talk. Many work from home freelancers quit their jobs and do exactly the same thing.

70% said in the survey they prefer a smart casual dress code in the workplace. Yes we agree with that one, although our version of smart casual might be different to their version.

They no doubt have visions of casual shirts and smart waist coats when they turn up to work, with a pair of Chinos and a pair of brown loafers on their feet.

Here at FS HQ that is way too smart for a work day and not nearly casual enough. Our idea of casual is no shirt, no shoes and no jacket.

"Just what are you wearing then?" you might be wondering. "Pyjamas on a smart casual day...and boxers on a casual day."

Back to the survey and it was our nations capital, London, which was mentioned as the number one place that professionals would like to work, with 27% saying London is the place to be.

7% would consider a move to Brighton while another 7% would go to Bournemouth.

Here at Freelance Supermarket we are not moving anywhere. We are staying right where we are, and for many that is the number 1 freelance website in the UK.
