What is the dream job for millions around the country? Freelance football writer is the answer. Get paid for watching your favourite team!

An advert has just landed on my desk here at Freelance Supermarket Headquarters. "Freelance Football Writing Jobs," is the headline. "Sounds good," I said to myself, so I kept on reading...

"Work remotely," is what they added. In other words, you don't even need to attend any football matches. Simply watch the games on TV and then write about them on your laptop.

I know what you are all thinking...a job that doesn't require you to leave the house, that is the kind of job that Freelance Supermarket approves of.

The kind of freelance job where your alarm clock doesn't need to ever be set and pyjamas are the only item of clothing needed.

"Throw out all of my clothes," you can say..."I'm a freelance football writer. I only need pyjamas from now on."

Hold on though. Before you get too excited and give your underpants to charity, don't you think it would be a good idea to find out more about the job first? Yes it would.

The company offering jobs for freelance football writers is HITC and they are very clear on the type of writers they want.

In the advert they say "standard football journalists not required," They also go on to say that "we don't want football writers who simply report the news," and add that match reports and long articles are not wanted.

What they DO want is football writers who can "move the story on," so to speak, and "comment objectively on the issues that really matter." If you can do all of that from the remote wilderness of your own home, then HITC want to talk with you right now.

No doubt you will also require a Sky Sports and BT Sports subscription so you can watch matches, but the good news is you DON'T require any experience in writing articles.

That's right. Even if you can barely spell your own name you could be in with a chance of becoming a freelance football writer. Who cares about quality writing anyway? These days nobody reads, they skim.

Just like the faithful Freelance Supermarket readers. Are you even reading this right now, or are you just skimming through, looking for any excuse to go back to Instagram or Twitter? It's okay, you can leave if you want to. Just remember to come back again next week for more freelance news stories.
