Hiring a Freelancer as Easy as “Buying From Amazon”

Many companies are finding it easier to hire freelancers online, with new technology and sites allowing them to do it at the click of a button.

This has led to one commentator to describe hiring a freelancer as being as easy as "buying from Amazon," where often a client can find the exact skills they are looking for in minutes, and then hire them straight away.

There are many freelance sites leading this revolution, with the very well known sites spending millions of pounds over the last couple of years to make the process of finding the right freelancer straight forward and simple.

Clients can quickly search by the skills they need, how much they want to spend, where the freelancer is from, how much experience they have, and how quickly they can complete a task.

Many times, there is no negotiation, no hiring process and no checking through CVs It's almost like they are putting the freelancer in a shopping cart and then going to the online checkout.

What happens if they don't like the freelancer though? No problem. Research shows that companies and clients are now more willing to try out a freelance worker with a small task or job, and if they don't like the work they simply move on to the next one.

Some companies even hire many freelancers at once and then choose the best few for the bigger jobs.

This process might be good for clients, but is it good for freelancers though? In my opinion yes, because at the end of the day it works both ways. They might be trying out your services and then deciding if to give you more work but then you are also doing the same thing.

If you don't like the initial job you can easily give it up and not take any more jobs from that client, all with the click of a button. Hiring a freelancer has become very easy but so has finding clients it seems.

Gone are the days when you had to go around contacting companies individually to enquire about work or check the classified section of the newspaper. These days all you need to do is upload a profile and the clients come to you...and it's becoming very easy for them to find you.

That's not to say that freelance sites are the only way to find clients. I know that some freelancers complain the competition drives the prices down on these kind of sites, and I admit that does happen.

Sometimes the best way is to go out there and find clients yourself, away from the hustle and bustle of the online freelance marketplace.
